About Me

Former fat girl turned running machine. I started this blog in November 2012 as a chronicle of my weight loss, a diary of my running achievements, and a place to review products, recipes, and running events. Couch to 5K graduate, 5K to 10K graduate, now working on the half marathon training plan.

I reached my goal of 140 lbs on April 16, 2013, successfully completing a 90 lb weight loss in approximately 17 months. I've since lost more, and hope to maintain around the 135 lb range.

About the Author
Erika fnishing her first 10K in February 2013
Erika is originally from the Chicago area, and attended undergraduate at the George Washington University in Washington, DC. After eight years in DC, she returned to Chicago and now lives just outside the city. She's currently a Master's candidate in Sports Administration at Northwestern University. She also works full-time at a medical association.

In November 2011, she weighed 230 lbs, and walked her first 5K on Thanksgiving Day. In November 2012, exactly one year later, she weighed 70 lbs less and clocked 29:48.7 in her fifth 5K on Thanksgiving Day. In February 2013, she finished her first 10K in 57:43. In August 2013, she finished her first 15K in 1:34:25.

To date, she has run eight 5Ks, four 10Ks, one 15K, and is training for a half marathon. She is registered for 11 races of various distances in 2013 (though that number constantly rises!) including her first half marathon coming up in October, and already has one race scheduled in 2014 (her second half marathon).

In her spare time, Erika enjoys running, watching sports, exploring Chicago, being single in the city, listening to music, watching movies, and looking for her next race.
